Inland Register to change publication schedules, business model, effective July 1
by Deacon Eric Meisfjord, Editor, Inland Register
(From the May 19, 2011 edition of the Inland Register)
Effective July 1, the Inland Register, the diocese’s official news magazine, will shift from a publication schedule of approximately every three weeks to a monthly schedule.
Each issue will be dated the third Thursday of the month. The first issue under the new plan will be dated July 21, 2011.
In addition, the IR will accept – but will not solicit – paid advertising. The IR staff will work with advertisers who contact the staff, but no staff person will be dedicated to acquiring advertising for the paper.
The IR will no longer accept political advertising, however.
The 2011 diocesan directory will be the last print edition of that book. Information about parishes and the diocese will be available through the diocese’s web site, www.dioceseofspokane.org, as well as individual parish web sites.
Inland Register dates for 2011-2012 are below. (The information is also available in the IR’s section of the diocesan web site.)
The Inland Register began publishing in 1942 as a weekly broadsheet newspaper, part of the Register newspapers published out of Denver. The first editor was Father Terence Tully. Other editors include Father (later Monsignor) John Donnelly, Dan Morris, Paula LaBeck, and Father Mike Savelesky.
The publication shifted to its present tabloid size page in 1984. Initially it was published twice per month. It reduced publication to every three weeks in 1986.
