Destination Imagination

the Inland Register

(From the May 19, 2011 edition of the Inland Register)

After competing at the Washington state tournament, St. Aloysius School’s 4th/5th grade Destination Imagination (DI) team, “Taxi Teamwork,” has been invited to compete at the DI Global Tournament next month in Tennessee. Destination Imagination is an after-school activity in which students work in teams to solve challenges and present their solutions at tournaments. The challenges are designed to help students learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. Every year, DI reaches 100,000 students across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries, including teams from across the Spokane region. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills -- they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.
