Brain Teasers

the Inland Register

(From the June 9, 2011 edition of the Inland Register)

Fourth grade students at All Saints School got the “heads-up” on protecting their brains from injury this summer with the help of some very realistic models. Staff from Sacred Heart Medical Center, including Nettie Welshons (shown), Denise McCurdy, and Stitch the Trauma Bear explained how the brain functions and how it should be protected. Students played a game of catch and tried to walk blindfolded to show what can happen when brain trauma occurs. Students Giuila Smith, Molly Niedermeyer and Hollis Barnett discovered first-hand how soft the human brain is. (IR photo courtesy of All Saints School, Spokane)
