Father Rory Pitstick, a priest of the Spokane Diocese who teaches at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon, will give two presentations this month at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center.
The first will be the latest in IHRC’s ongoing Catechetical Evenings of Prayer, on Tuesday, July 26, when Father Pitstick will talk on “the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.” The evening can be attended as a single unit or as part of the larger series.
The evening begins with Mass at 5 p.m., followed by dinner, two conferences, including question time and reflection, concluding by 8:45 p.m. Cost is $35 per person.
Later in the week, on Saturday, July 30, Father Pitstick will present a day of prayer specifically for parish lectors at Immaculate Heart: “PR4: Prayerful, Practical Preparation for Proclamation.”
The day will include growth, reflection, resources, and discernment of techniques. The day begins at 9 a.m. with the rosary, followed by two conferences, confessions, lunch, and Mass at 1:30 p.m.
Cost is $30 per person.
On Friday-Sunday, Aug. 12-14, Dr. Nancy Copeland-Payton, a physician and minister, will offer a weekend retreat on prayer titled “God Calling: Invitation to Prayer.” The retreat for both men and women will focus on the experience of prayer, the practice of prayer, the “image” of God, impediments to prayer, “showing up” for prayer, and much more.
Cost is $185, per person, $280 for twin accommodations, and $100 for commuters.
A weekend retreat for women, titled “The Dignity and Vocation of Women: Rest and Inspiration for Weary Women and Frazzled Moms,” has been scheduled for Friday-Sunday, Aug. 19-21.
The retreat, by Sister Mary Eucharista of the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, will concentrate on fulfillment in the midst of the challenges of women’s lives in the world and in the Church. Conferences will include discussion of Blessed John Paul’s Apostolic Letter to women, Mulieris Dignitatem, as well as times of silence, deep prayer and adoration, conversation with other women, and a supportive panel for questions and answers.
