Catholic Charities’ CAPA program to offer mentoring for young fathers

the Inland Register

(From the Aug. 18, 2011 edition of the Inland Register)

Catholic Charities’ Childbirth and Parenting Assistance (CAPA) program in collaboration with the Inland NW Community Foundation is pleased to announce a new fatherhood mentoring project designed to provide men with mentors who will help them to become healthy fathers.

The CAPA fatherhood mentoring project will consist of fathers in the community mentoring CAPA dads in a group setting through activities and conversation about fatherhood issues. The positive impact that these mentors will provide will assist in preventing child abuse and neglect; giving young fathers the necessary tools to become confident and nurturing parents.

Catholic Charities’ CAPA program works with vulnerable families to provide hope and support and to change generational cycles of abuse and neglect. CAPA provides counseling, mentors, support groups, parenting classes, diapers, and baby essentials.

For more information about service as a father mentor, contact Fatherhood Coordinator Brandon Rector: 455-4971.
