(From the Aug. 18, 2011 edition of the Inland Register)

On Friday, Sept. 2, Bishop Cupich begins a new series at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center (IHRC), “First Fridays with the Bishop.”

Each event begins with Mass at 11:15 a.m., followed by lunch and a half-hour talk by the bishop.

September’s talk is titled “What I did on my summer vacation (and my first year as Bishop of Spokane).”

On Friday, Oct. 7, the bishop will speak on “Advent 2011: The Lord – and a new Roman Missal — is coming.”

Cost for each session is $15 to cover lunch. For more information or to register call IHRC at 509-448-1224 or register online with IHRC’s web site:

“First Fridays” is scheduled to run on the first Friday of most months, beginning September 2011 through May of 2012. Exceptions in 2012 will be January and April. Those two months’ presentations have been rescheduled for the second Friday – January 13 and April 13, respectively.
