St. Joseph Parish, Spokane, hosts Thanksgiving Day gathering for Eucharist, food

the Inland Register

(From the Oct. 20, 2011 edition of the Inland Register)

As fall leaves swirl and Thanksgiving draws near, many will gather for bountiful feasts with family or friends, and recognize many blessings.

Many people made a special effort to come to this country, just as the pilgrims did so long ago. Many came, seeking new opportunities.

In honor of Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m., St. Joseph Parish, 1503 W. Dean Ave. in Spokane, will come together for liturgy and Eucharist at a Trilingual Mass. This will be followed by sharing food from three different ethnicities. It will be a wonderful sharing of the richness of the parish’s cultures which will bring to mind the true spirit of the original settling of the United States. All are welcome to participate.

As an outward sign of our internal heart full of thanks, please bring a nonperishable food item for the offertory procession.
