Brick by brick

the Inland Register

(From the February 16, 2012 edition of the Inland Register)

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Washington State are continuing their fund-raising project, “Brick by Brick,” to build an elementary school for the orphaned children at the Little Angels Home Orphanage in Tanzania, East Africa. The Franciscan Sisters of St. Bernadette operate the orphanage, but get no outside monetary help for their educational needs. The school will cost in the $60,000 range. The school will serve 33 orphans, although all needy children, as well as those living in the Diocese of Rulenge, will be able to seek admittance to the school. A gourmet Chinese dinner and auction is planned for March 31 to benefit the “Brick by Brick” school project. The evening begins with a 6 p.m. social hour, followed by dinner catered by Jack Louie at 6:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Parish Center, 505 W. St. Thomas More Way in Spokane. Tickets are $20. To purchase tickets, call 448-9710, 927-0120, or 467-0290. Donations for the project may be made to: WA STATE CDA, with reference to “Brick by Brick,” schoolproject.
