Assumption School’s sixth grade class recently visited Mildred Salinas (pictured, center) at Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Students Sophia De Felice (left) and Gracie Cunneely (right) organized a donation drive with their classmates to purchase her an American Girl Doll. Mildred is a 14-year-old girl from Honduras and is currently at Shriner’s undergoing traction in preparation for an extensive spinal surgery due to Nuerofibromatosis. Mildred is in Spokane thanks to the organization, “Healing the Children” and is living with De Felice’s grandparents. The girls wanted to do something extra special for this special child. The class presented the doll to Mildred during a field trip to the hospital on May 17. Mildred was overwhelmed by this outpouring of love. Mrs. Webinger’s 6th graders will continue to pray daily for Mildred and plan to visit her again soon. (IR photo courtesy of Assumption School, Spokane)
