Steubenville High School Youth Conference returns to Spokane next month
the Inland Register
(From the June 21, 2012 edition of the Inland Register)
Spiritus Ministries and Franciscan University will once again co-host the Steubenville Northwest High School Youth Conference at the INB in Spokane from Friday-Sunday, July 27-29.
Last year, over 1,100 high school youth and chaperones from six states and Canada come together to grow in their Catholic faith, celebrate the sacraments, praise and worship, and fellowship with fellow Catholic brothers and sisters.
Check-in is Friday afternoon, followed by dinner at 4:30 p.m.
Praise and worship music led by the Ben Walther Band kicks off the conference itself at 6:30pm.
Speakers this year include Paul George, Mary Bielski, Dan and Kyle from Popple (a Catholic “acoustic humor rock band”), and Father José Robles-Sanchez.
Friday’s dinner and both breakfasts are served on Gonzaga’s campus; Saturday’s lunch and dinner are catered at Riverfront Park, just adjacent to the INB.
The conference fee of $195 covers five meals, overnight accommodations in the Gonzaga University dorms, and conference activities.
Prior to the conference, 20-30 teens are selected to participate in the LEAD program (Leadership, Evangelization, And Discipleship), a five-day Franciscan, Christ-centered immersion in Catholic teachings on leadership, evangelization, and discipleship inspired by the life and witness of St. Francis of Assisi. LEAD begins July 23, the Monday prior to the conference.
Registration is by group only, most typically a high school youth group, led by their youth minister, but can also be as small as one adult chaperone and one high school teen.
Conference participants are limited to teens entering 9th grade through 2012 high school graduates, young adults aged 19-20 who assist their group leader, adult chaperones age 21 and over, adult volunteers, priests, deacons, seminarians, and Sisters.
Registration forms are available online at www.spiritusnw.org; by calling 360-789-1000; or via email: spiritusministries.peggy@ gmail.com.
The deadline for all registration is June 30.
