Gonzaga Prep announced last week that Krysten Amaya, a junior and the daughter of William and Tina Amaya of Liberty Lake, has received an Ignatian Service Award and received a letter in Community Service.

In order to receive the letter, Amaya has completed more than 200 hours of community service since attending Gonzaga Prep.

Among her accomplishments: helped to raise awareness of domestic violence through “Mutual Grounds”; was the Gonzaga Prep JV boys basketball trainer for 2011-12; has volunteered many hours for Pop Warner Football; has kept books, umpired, and helped to coach Riverview’s Little Leagues; spent at least 50 hours working on bake sales with the intentions of helping to end hunger and to support a children’s hospital; and spent 30 hours helping to organize and run a fundraiser for sports programs.
