(From the December 20, 2012 edition of the Inland Register)

Youth ministers of the diocese – volunteer or paid – are invited to participate in a retreat specifically tailored for them and their colleagues the weekend of Jan. 18-20 at Lutherhaven Camp in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

The retreat, sponsored by the Spokane Diocese, will be led by Deacon Paul Heric, who has been ministering this past year at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane and as an assistant to Father Mike Savelesky, the diocese’s Moderator of the Curia.

The weekend is titled “Come Away with Me and Rest,” providing “time for camaraderie, prayer, play … and a little bit of work.”

The retreat begins Friday afternoon with check-in from 3-5 p.m.

Conference topics include:

• “A Wild Time of Play and Pray.”
• “What is prayer for the everyday minister? Everything!”
• “Creating a New Vision for Your Ministry.”

The retreat concludes Sunday morning with Mass, celebrated by Bishop Cupich, followed by brunch and adjournment.

Cost of the weekend is $75/person; scholarships are available. Participants should bring a sleeping bag and pillow, warm clothing for hiking, a Bible, notebook and pen, and snacks to share.

Registration is due by Jan. 11. Contact Deacon Heric for registration or more information: call 358-4290, or email
