The media wants its readers to know that Pope Francis is carrying some baggage with him. The so-called “baggage” stems from his alleged involvement in Argentine politics decades ago.
I am always amazed at how quickly we sinners judge another, completely oblivious of that speck and log warning in the Gospel. With little forethought, we pick up stones and begin the hurling.
In recent years, we have been doing it on a more frequent basis – especially with politicians and celebrities, but among ourselves, too. Even well-meaning parishioners are not immune from this behavior.
Maybe it’s time to revisit the Gospel teaching: Let him who is without sin cast the first stone!
