Dominican Sister Mary Rathert celebrates jubilee of profession

Sister Mary Rathert of the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa will celebrate her 50th jubilee in July 2013. A Mass will be held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound, Wis., on Sunday, July 14, for her and 12 other Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters celebrating 50 years.

Her Religious name was Sister Marie Alfred.

Sister Mary’s home parish is St. Bernard, Madison, Wis., in the Madison Diocese. She is the daughter of the late Alfred and Mathilda (Eich) Rathert.

Sister Mary’s ministry has been dedicated to teaching, pastoral ministry, and social service work. In the Diocese of Spokane, Sister Mary ministered at Women’s Hearth, Spokane, 1998-2010, and served as program director from 2000-2010.

She has also ministered in Nebraska, Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, West Virginia and Virginia.

Sister Mary is currently ministering as a member of the leadership team of the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation.
