Kathleen Lockie, former assistant superintendent of the Catholic schools in the Spokane Diocese, died May 2 after a long illness. She was 73 years old.
The funeral Mass was celebrated May 15 at Holy Family Church, Portland, Ore.
She was born in Corvallis, Ore., and spent her life dedicated to education: in addition to being assistant superintendent (1985-88), she served as principal of St. Mary School, Spokane Valley, and St. Aloysius School, Spokane, in addition to other elementary schools in the Northwest.
Lockie also worked as an adjunct at Gonzaga University and at the University of Portland, and was a member of the Governorís Oregon Private School Advisory Board and the Catholic Education Futures Project in Washington, D.C.
She was a member of the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon for 24 years and a member of the Holy Names Sisters for eight years.
She is survived by her brother, Larry Lockie (Sharon).
