the Inland Register
(From the June 20, 2013 edition of the Inland Register)
“Make Change Happen…” was the theme of the fifth annual Catholic Charities Gala, held May 10 at the Davenport Hotel in downtown Spokane.
Proceeds from the annual event benefit the 13 programs of Catholic Charities while also highlighting the individuals who partner with Charities’ mission to serve those in need.
John and Lori Moloney, Honorary Co-chairs of the event, expressed the importance of charity and service to the community in need, encouraging guests to support Catholic Charities by praying, volunteering and providing monetary gifts to assist the programs.
Dr. Rob McCann, Executive Director, shared how Catholic Charities continues to provide a wide breadth of services to the vulnerable.
Stan Miller, a local artist, entertained the audience with an upside-down “quick-draw” portrait of Msgr. Frank Bach, then revealed a watercolor portrait that will hang at Father Bach Haven, Catholic Charities’ newest housing complex.
Awards were presented to:
Marguerite Daltoso, Volunteer of the Year, Catholic Charities Walla Walla.
Nadine Van Stone, Director at St. Margaret’s Shelter, received the Donna Hanson Award.
Jim and Beth Brasch were awarded the Bishop’s Medal by Bishop Blase Cupich in recognition of their significant contributions of time, talent and treasure in the diocese on behalf of Catholic Charities Spokane.
