Former GU president returns to Spokane for October lecture on evidence of God’s existence

The Spokane Catholic Medical Association is pleased to present a lecture by Jesuit Father Robert Spitzer PhD  on “The Contemporary Scientific Evidence for the Existence of God” on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. at Providence Auditorium, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

The lecture is open to the public. Atheists and agnostics are especially welcome.

From 1998-2009 Father Spitzer was president of Gonzaga University. During his time as president, the school saw a significant increase in the number of programs in faith, ethics, and leadership; 20 new facilities were built; and the student body increased by 75 percent.

He is the author of five books, including the award winning New Proofs for the Existence of God: Contributions of Contemporary Physics and Philosophy (Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company), as well as dozens of scholarly articles.

Father Spitzer has appeared on many television shows, including an appearance on The Larry King Show to debate Stephen Hawking, the History Channel, the Today Show, and a multiple-part series for PBS titled Closer to the Truth.
