Effective Aug. 26, the position of Development Services Office Assistant has been added to the slate of diocesan administration. Filling the new position is Debbie Battaglia of Spokane.

After a major reconfiguration of support staff for diocesan administration, the decision was made to seek an assistant to help with the work of the Development Services Office in place of a traditional office secretary.

The Development Services Office not only includes responsibility for the diocese’s normal development effort and three annual collections; it also now embraces contracted responsibility for the development efforts of the Nazareth Guild and the Catholic Foundation of Eastern Washington.

Battaglia holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Communications from the University of Montana. Her 30 years of work experience placed her in the position of general manager of a million dollar signature store in downtown Aspen, Colo.; from there she was asked to open new locations in Boulder, Colo., and Phoenix, Ariz.

After marriage, she and her husband moved to Spokane. She has since worked in real estate sales, marketing and business networking. Most recently, she has been property manager for an apartment complex, balancing her responsibilities there with her family duties as the mother of two children, students at Cataldo School, where she has served as auction chair and hospitality coordinator.

“Living a faith-based life, Debbie’s extensive business experience and contacts – in addition to her multiple personal and professional skills – will be a blessing to the work of the expanding work of the diocese’s Development Office,” said Father Mike Savelesky, the diocese’s Moderator of the Curia.

According to Andy Robideaux, the diocese’s Director of Development, “Debbie is an individual who not only will bring spirit and energy to our staff; she also will bring that passion and dedication to our diocese. She is gifted in her ability to communicate in our complex world. The development efforts of the diocese will be enriched by her personal and professional contribution.”
