CFCS of Spokane begins funeral ministry
the Inland Register
(From the October 17, 2013 edition of the Inland Register)
Catholic Funeral & Cemetery Services of Spokane (“CFCS”) is pleased to announce that it is now offering funeral services to the faith community in full compliance with the recently issued Funeral Policies of the Diocese of Spokane. (Editor’s note: For the policies in English and Spanish, see pages 7-10 of this issue.)
CFCS currently operates three Catholic cemeteries in the greater Spokane area – Holy Cross, Queen of Peace, and St. Joseph. Families can now take care of all their needs in a single visit, with CFCS staff coordinating the arrangements with the parish, pastor and family.
CFCS made the decision to provide funeral and burial services after hearing requests from parishioners and families, after months of study and discussion with the organization’s Board of Directors, and in consultation with Bishop Cupich, local pastors and many other Catholics.
Jim Falkner, CFCS Executive Director, explained that the intent of the new service is to “support parishes in providing an excellent, Catholic focused funeral service that honors our important Catholic rites and provides families with guidance and support at the difficult time of death.”
