Father Thomas Khuê, ordained a priest of the Spokane Diocese in 1991, has been granted excardination by Bishop Blase Cupich and has been incardinated into the Diocese of Oakland, Calif. Bishop Cupich received official confirmation of Father Khuê’s incardination April 18.

By excardination, a priest is officially separated from his diocese. With incardination, he becomes a priest of another diocese.

Father Khuê, a native of Vietnam, was parochial vicar of St. Mary Parish, Spokane Valley, after his ordination to the priesthood on June 7, 1991.

He attended St. Paul Seminary, St. Paul, Minn., prior to ordination.

After his ministry as parochial vicar he was named pastor of the parishes in Ione, Metaline Falls, Newport, and Usk, in 1994.

He became pastor of St. Patrick Parish, Spokane, in 1997. He also has served as director of Vietnamese ministry for the diocese.
