Jubilarian Franciscan Sisters served Spokane Diocese in diverse ministries

More than 300 Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia gathered at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel in Aston, Pa., to honor 28 jubilarians marking significant anniversaries of Religious life.

Of the jubilarians, three ministered within the Diocese of Spokane.

Sister Nadine Rose Bennett (formerly Sister Agnes St. Rose, right) is celebrating 70 years of Religious profession. Her earlier ministry in the Spokane Diocese included working with children at St. Joseph Home, teaching at St. Charles School, and serving as a companion/aide at Upjohn Home Health. Sister Nadine currently lives at St. Ann Convent in Tacoma, Wash., where she serves in prayer ministry.

Sister Loretta Schaff (formerly Sister Magdalen Marie, left) is celebrating 50 years of Religious profession. She worked previously in parish ministry at St. Charles Parish in Spokane. Sister Loretta currently works as an adjunct professor of religious studies at Marylhurst University in Portland, Ore. She also serves as a spiritual assistant with the St. Clare Secular Franciscan Fraternity, and for the past six years has volunteered with the women incarcerated at Coffee Creek Correctional Center.

Sister Carol Ann Warnke (formerly Sister Peter Damian, right) is also celebrating 50 years of Religious profession. Her earlier work in the Diocese of Spokane included teaching at St. Charles School and working as coordinator of spirituality and programs at St. Joseph Family Center. Currently Sister Carol is engaged in spiritual ministry at Hermitage Place in Tacoma.
