The Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration in Mishawaka, Ind., celebrated the days surrounding the Feast of St. Clare with great solemnity, as they witnessed several young women taking their next step in Religious life.
On Sunday, Aug. 10, Sister Mary Anthony Winger (pictured, left), formerly of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Spokane, professed temporary vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience for a period of three years. Sister M. Angela Mellady, the Provincial Superior, accepted her vows in the name of the Church.
During the liturgy, the white veil which she wore as a novice was exchanged for a black veil as an outward sign of her profession. She has been assigned to Franciscan St. Francis Health – Indianapolis, where she will become familiar with her community’s healthcare apostolate.
Sister Mary Anthony first met the Religious community when she was studying at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.
She is the daughter of Clifford and Sarah Winger.
