Spokane’s Immaculate Heart Retreat Center (IHRC) will host the second evening of a dinner series on the topic “Evidence for God from Physics,” led by Bishop William Skylstad, on Tuesday, Feb. 24. The evening begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m.; conferences end by 8:30 p.m.
Bishop William Skylstad will present Jesuit Father Robert Spitzer’s video presentations on arguments from reason on God’s existence, using contemporary proofs from new findings in cosmology. There will be a Q&A over dessert and coffee.
The topic for February is “In the Beginning II: Is there Evidence of Fine-tuning, Design, and Intelligence in the Universe? Physics, Evolution, and the Bible.” Cost is $30 per person.

• Father David Kuttner (right) will present an evening of prayer titled “The Paschal Mystery: I Thirst” on Tuesday, March 10, from 5-8:30 p.m.
The Gospel of John records Jesus speaking the words “I thirst” from the Cross. Jesus calls his followers to accompany him in his thirst for souls and for relationship with him.

• Andi McGoran will lead a presentation on Taizé prayer on Wednesday, March 18, as part of IHRC’s “Coffee and Contemplation” series.
The topic will be “Taizé Prayer: An Invitation to Intimacy.” McGoran has been a Taizé pilgrim four times, including meeting the head of the Taizé community, Brother Roger. She is a retired high school teacher and for the last three years has given spiritual direction.

Father Lewis will explore the Gospel scenes of the Annunciation, the Visitation, and the Nativity. Participants will learn from Mary how to recognize God’s will (discernment) and how to cooperate with the grace of God to bring that will to fulfillment in life (discipleship).
The day begins with recitation of the rosary at 9 a.m. and will include two conferences, lunch, the sacrament of reconciliation, and the celebration of Mass. The day concludes with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

The theme of this year’s retreats is “Going to the Heart of Jesus, an Observatory.” From the heart of Jesus, believers know his love; the Kingdom of God is viewed through the lens of faith. Together with Bishop Skylstad, retreatants will reflect on the light of Christ’s love, and in this world of cross and joy, will search out ever more fully the meaning of the Divine Presence.
