Annual Catholic Appeal 2015: a reminder
the Inland Register
(From the March 19, 2015 edition of the Inland Register)
Dear Friends in Christ,
The Catholics in the Diocese of Spokane are part of a most important tradition, mundane as it may be. Over the course of years, all of us are asked to participate in responding to the Annual Catholic Appeal. During the course of those appeals, the faithful of the diocese have demonstrated their commitment to ensure that the Church in Eastern Washington has sufficient resources to remain vibrant and healthy. As we all know, this annual appeal plays an indispensable role in funding the various ministries and administrative needs of the diocese.
Once again this year your help is needed in this regard. Please support the ACA effort which currently is taking place in your parish, supporting your pastor as he solicits the participation of parishioners in reaching the parish’s goal. If you have already made a pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal, know that your goodness and generosity truly does make a difference to the mission of the diocese. If you have not yet taken the opportunity to send in your pledge, please do so now.
By comparison, to date this year’s contributions to the Annual Catholic Appeal are slightly ahead of where they were last year at this time. Our new bishop will inherit the blessings of our common effort and sacrifice. He will find that we are a strong and vibrant community whose presence in our cities and towns makes a vital difference.
Do remember that all contributions to the Annual Catholic Appeal are deposited into the Diocesan Ministries Fund, which is a corporation established in 2011 to maintain a legal separation of funds in the diocese. Overseen by a separate board of directors, this corporation disperses the funds by means of a grant process to support various works of the Church in a way that insures that the intention of donors is respected. Every effort is made to exercise frugality in the expenditure of the funds, as well as proper management of these contributions so that they are not commingled with diocesan funds.
May you and your family experience an abundance of God’s grace and blessing as we prepare for the great Easter Feast. Signs of spring are all around us in nature and in the Church as we prepare to welcome our new Chief Shepherd. A most blessed Easter Season for us all!
Respectfully in Christ,
