In preparation for the Sacred Triduum, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes is hosting a “Festival of Forgiveness” on Wednesday, April 1.
Multiple priests will be available from noon-7 p.m. to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The idea for such a festival comes from the emphasis which Pope Francis has placed on God’s grace as an instrument of healing and mercy.
“Our Holy Father has described the Church as a ‘field hospital’ for the spiritually wounded,” said Father Darrin Connall, rector of the Cathedral. “We thought that it would be very appropriate to convert our beautiful Cathedral into a ‘field hospital’ in preparation for the great Feast of Easter.”
The Festival of Forgiveness is for all Catholics, especially for those who have been away from the Church for a while or those who are carrying particularly heavy burdens.
“As the Mother Church of the diocese we feel a special obligation to offer the medicine of mercy to those in need of healing and forgiveness,” said Father Connall.
