Novena for Healing at the Cathedral

the Inland Register

(From the March 19, 2015 edition of the Inland Register)

From Feb. 3-11, hundreds of parishioners from throughout the diocese gathered at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in downtown Spokane for nine days of prayer for healing. Each evening people gathered for a Liturgy of the Word, a sermon on some aspect of the Blessed Mother, and a variety of devotions, including throat blessings, sprinkling with Lourdes Water, the rosary, and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The novena concluded on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, which is also designated World Day of Prayer for the Sick. On this final night, the Cathedral was packed with people. Several priests were available for the Sacrament of the Sick. Following the service a banquet was held in the lower level of the cathedral. Plans are already underway for the Fifth Annual Lourdes Novena for Healing, which will begin on Feb. 3, 2016. Pictured: Msgr. John Steiner celebrates the Sacrament of the Sick.
