Catholic radio host among IHRC’s presenters this spring

Immaculate Heart Retreat Center (IHRC), Spokane, moves farther into spring with its “Road to Discovery” presentation on Tuesday, April 21.
The tour of the facilities and lunch run from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Presentations will include talks by IHRC’s director, Deacon John Ruscheinsky, and Sister Mary Eucharista Mazurik of the Sisters of Mary Mother of the Church, head of programs for IHRC.
The event is free.
• IHRC’s 12th annual Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch is scheduled for Sunday, May 10, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
The menu includes an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring omelets made to order, biscuits and gravy, and other brunch delights, including fresh-baked rolls and muffins. Proceeds support IHRC’s retreat ministries.
In addition to brunch, Sunday Mass will be celebrated beginning at 8 a.m. in the main chapel, followed by crowning of the Blessed Mother.
Cost is $30 for adults and $10 for children ages 6-12 at the door. Reservations are encouraged.
• Father David Kuttner, IHRC’s spiritual director and the pastor of the parishes in Tekoa and Oakesdale, will present a Marian Day of Prayer titled “Mary, Model of Perfect Freedom” on Tuesday, May 19, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Blessed Mother demonstrates how to “hear the Word of God and keep it” (Luke 11:28).
The day begins with recitation of the rosary at 9 a.m. It includes two conferences, lunch, opportunity to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and Mass. The day closes with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Cost is $35 per person, which includes lunch ($45 with use of a private room for the day). Please register in advance.
• Next month, IHRC brings Dr. Tom Curran and his wife, Kari, for a retreat titled “You’re Not Alone: Keeping Your Kids Safe and Strong in a Secure and Faithful Marriage” the weekend of May 29-31.
The Currans will share and explore how to overcome society’s pressures on families by changing how marriage partners see each other. Participating couples will have time to relax and pray with each other and with other couples.
Dr. Curran received his PhD is systematic theology from the Catholic University of American in Washington, D. C., and a graduate degree in theology from the Gregorian University in Rome. He is the founder and director of MyCatholicFaith.org and hosts a daily radio program for EWTN.
Cost of the retreat is $195/person, $295/couple, and $125/person for commuters.
