Father Todd Koesel, originally from Deer Park, Wash., was ordained to the priesthood on March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey, Carlton, Ore., about 50 miles south of Portland, near the town of Lafayette.

Father Todd is the son of Dennis and Nola Koesel of St. Mary Presentation Parish, Deer Park.

Father Todd grew up in Deer Park before professing solemn vows as a Trappist in 2010.

He entered the community at Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey in February 2004.

He graduated from Riverside High School in Chattaroy, Wash., and Eastern Washington University, where he majored in accounting, in 1999.

He had put himself through school working in a warehouse for Costco. He returned to the company after college, this time in the corporate headquarters in Issaquah, but returned to the warehouse prior to discerning his call to Religious life.

He joined the Trappists after first spending some time discerning a vocation to the Franciscans.
