by Deacon Dan Glatt, for the Inland Register

(From the April 16, 2015 edition of the Inland Register)

The Diocesan Committee for Catholic Scouting is pleased to offer a workshop on “Mary, the First Disciple” to Girl Scouts, Camp Fire, and Youth Group members who would like to grow in their faith as they earn this award.

The workshop series is scheduled to begin Saturday, April 18, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 3327 S. Perry in Spokane.

The classes run from 9:30 a.m.-noon.

The series continues on select Saturdays. The first class is titled “Called and Chosen.” Consequent class titles and schedule are:

May 9: “God is With Us.”
May 23: “Mary Made a Difference.”
June 6: “Mary, a Woman for all Times.”
June 20: Conclusion and Board of Review for Scouts.

The series is of special interest to members of Girl Scouts and Camp Fire. Youth group members in grades 7-12 also are invited to participate in this special opportunity to discover the call of Mary, the Blessed Mother, who said “yes” to be the Mother of Jesus.

Cost for the workbook and award is $25. (Financial assistance is available; no Scout will be turned away because of cost. Contact the Diocesan Committee on Catholic Scouting for information.)

For information or registration, contact the diocese’s Scouting chaplain, Deacon Dan Glatt, at (509)747-7213, or June Sine, Girl Scout Catholic Chair, at (509) 928-3757. For email contact, address questions to
