The Boy Scout Troop chartered to Spokane’s St. Patrick Parish hosted an exceptional benefit dinner and auction at St. Thomas More Parish, Spokane, on Saturday, April 25.
The evening featured a pig roast with live and silent auctions, attended by 137 people.
Father Richard Semple, parochial vicar of St. Thomas More Parish and himself a former Scout, noted in his invocation the Catholic values and leadership taught through Scouting.
Troop 258 has delivered a superior Catholic youth program for many years, and draws members from St. Charles, St. Thomas More, and St. Patrick parishes.
The event was especially impressive, since the boys were responsible for much of the organizing and conduct of this high quality event.
Scoutmaster Michael Grieshaber indicated the proceeds are to buy a trailer for hauling the troop’s camping equipment.

(Smee is chairman of the Diocesan Committee for Catholic Scouting.)
