Welcome to Eastern Washington

the Inland Register

(From the June 18, 2015 edition of the Inland Register)

When Bishop Thomas Daly visited the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes to celebrate Confirmation/First Eucharist on May 31, the Cathedral parish presented him with four gifts. The Parish Pastoral Council President, Mary Haugen, presented him with an historic portrait of the Cathedral painted by Spokane artist Carl Funseth; Cataldo student Nick Frazier presented him with a gift certificate to Anthony’s Restaurant (because bishop’s middle name is Anthony); Gianna Harrington, also a Cataldo student, presented him with a gift certificate to the only restaurant in town with the word “church” in it – Churchill’s Steakhouse; and, in keeping with the spirit of Pope Francis, who appointed Bishop Daly to Spokane, and in keeping with the Cathedral parish’s strong commitment to the poor and homeless, Father Darrin Connall, rector of the Cathedral, presented the bishop with a check for $5,000, to be used to help the poor in any way the bishop sees fit.
