A breakfast to raise funds for and awareness of the FOCUS campus ministry at Eastern Washington University, Cheney, will be hosted at St. Peter Parish, 18th and S. Freya in Spokane, on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 8 a.m.

Speaking at the breakfast will be Bishop Thomas Daly and, pictured at left, Curtis Martin, the founder and CEO of FOCUS Ministries. The theme of the event is “Revitalizing Our Catholic Future.”

The Fellowship of Catholic University Students, or FOCUS, invites college students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church. (Editor’s note: See also “FOCUS missionaries to assist with EWU Newman Ministry,” IR 9/17/15). The ministry’s goal is to “inspire and equip” college students “for a lifetime of Christ-centered evangelization, discipleship, and friendship in which they lead others to do the same.”

Martin is the author of the 2008 book Made for More. In 2004, Curtis and his wife, Michaelann, were awarded the Benemerenti Medal by St. Pope John Paul II for their outstanding service to the Church. In 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Curtis as a Consulter to the Pontifical Council of the New Evangelization.
