Our Lady of Fatima Youth Ministry Pumpkin Patch

the Inland Register

(From the October 15, 2015 edition of the Inland Register)

Drive by 34th and South Perry in Spokane and you will find Our Lady of Fatima Parish. You will also find a field of orange radiating from the north end of the parish property. For the eighth year, Deacon Dan Glatt and a group of dedicated parents have staffed the Fatima Pumpkin Patch, with sales benefitting parish youth activities especially summer activities. Deacon Glatt estimates that some 40,000 pounds of pumpkins are for sale this year; prices are based on size. The pumpkins themselves are grown on the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico and are shipped around the county through a partnership with a company called Pumpkins USA. So, the purchase of pumpkin not only helps Spokane youth; it also provides income for the Navajo Nation. The Pumpkin Patch is open from 10 a.m. to dusk, until Oct. 30 or all the goods are sold whichever comes first. For more information, contact Deacon Glatt at Our Lady of Fatima: (509) 747-7213, or email
