For those who missed the “Lighten Up!” evening program at the Know, Love, and Serve Assembly earlier this month, there is another opportunity to see Doug Brummel in action.

Brummel, a nationally renowned family comedian and storyteller, will bring his cast of characters to life with two evenings of laughter and learning about the Catholic Faith at St. Joseph Parish in Otis Orchards.

“Lighten Up! Whole-Community Celebration” is the parish mission being offered at St. Joseph on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, Oct. 20-21, at 6:47 p.m. (“Sharp!”) in the church, 4521 N. Arden Rd. in Otis Orchards.

The evenings are described as “a Catholic inspirational comedy show with a message for all ages.”

Each evening is a different performance with a different message. Everyone is welcome – invite family and friends, neighbors and co-workers, especially those who have been away from the Church.

Past performances have elicited testimonials:

• “My entire family enjoyed Doug on both nights of ‘Lighten Up!’ What a fun time and what a nice change. Faith really can be fun! Doug truly was faith inspiring.”
• “Doug, you have an extraordinary talent to touch people’s hearts, open their minds to the Gospel, and expand their horizons of what it means to be a Catholic in today’s world!”
• “I am 80 years old. I have never seen anything like this at our church. I learned more in these two nights than I have in all my years. You have a wonderful way of teaching and inspiring us through your wit and wisdom!”
• “Our two kids (ages 17 and 13) attended both nights of ‘Lighten Up!’ with us. It was delightful as a parent to hear them talk about running into their friends the next day at school and how they talked about ‘Lighten Up!’ in the hallway.”

A soup supper will be offered on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 5:30 pm. in the parish hall.

There is no charge; a free-will offering will be taken up.
