St. Patrick Parish in Pasco hosted an “All Saint’s Eve Festival” on Friday, Oct. 30, for all children of the parish and school.
The event kicked off with Mass at 5:30 p.m. Following Mass, nearly 70 adult volunteers, 50 youth volunteers, as well as parish staff awaited the crowd of over 100 children gathered outside to come in and join in on the festivities.
This year between 500-600 children came through the doors to participate in the event. There were craft stations (including one dedicated to making saint puppets), photo booths, and games set up for the children. All children and volunteers were encouraged to dress up as saints.
This event has continued to grow from its beginnings at the parish three years ago, successfully fostering community between the parish and the school. The numbers are a blessing – the numbers of volunteers, the amounts of donations, that all make the event possible. For example, thousands of pieces of candy were donated by families to help make the evening that much sweeter.
This year saw the addition of a “trunk-or-treat” to the festivities. The parish’s young adult group, Frassati, as well as other volunteers, decorate their car trunks with different saint themes; each trunk had a special treat for the children.
The children left with desserts donated by W. Richland Yokes, a bag of popcorn, juice, religious articles, and lots of candy. There was also a raffle for a bicycle donated by Pasco’s Walmart store.
