Clarkston Catholic school enrolls in ‘Rapid Responder’ emergency system
the Inland Register
(From the December 17, 2015 edition of the Inland Register)
With the support of the Knights of Columbus Council 3455 in Clarkston and a private donor, Holy Family School in Clarkston has become the first Catholic school in the Spokane Diocese to enroll in the Rapid Responder system.
Rapid Responder is an emergency preparedness and crisis management system. The system securely stores and shares emergency tactical plans, evacuation routes, and search and rescue maps. Rapid Responder is accessed from the internet and can be viewed by emergency responders and staff.
On Friday, Nov. 6, Bruce Kuennen and Joe Hawe from the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs visited Holy Family. Their tactical meeting for Rapid Responder included Chief Joel Hastings (police); Chief Steven Cooper (fire); SWAT; Resource Officer John Morbeck; Father Richard Root, pastor of Holy Family Parish; Dr. Duane Schafer, the Spokane Diocese’s superintendent of Catholic schools; and Sharon Shelley-Ray, Holy Family’s principal.
Holy Family Catholic School staff will be trained on using the system and will be able to load practice drills into Rapid Responder.
