Bishop Thomas Daly celebrated a special Mass for the Year of Consecrated Life on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in downtown Spokane.
The Mass honored women and men who are members of Religious communities serving in the Spokane Diocese.
Members of many Religious communities, of both men and women, were present for the Mass, as were supportive members of the laity.
Several priests of the diocese concelebrated the Mass.
Bishop Daly expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the varied ministries of Religious and his own experiences of that ministry, both as a student, as a priest, and as a bishop.
Providence Sister Margaret Botch offered a reflection after Communion, describing the joy she has felt, and continues to feel, having answered Godís call to a vocation as a Religious.
Religious Communities of men and women listed in the program for the Mass: Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, Sinsinawa Dominicans, Sisters of the Holy Names, Sisters of Providence, Sisters of St. Benedict, Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Carmelite Sisters of Mary, Poor Clare Nuns, Missionaries of Charity, Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, Sisters for Christian Community, Consecrated Virgins, the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), and the Franciscan Friars.
