As a follow-up to the “Year of Consecrated Life,” the Serra Club of the Tri-Cities, with support from the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Daughters of the Americas, sponsored an information program Saturday, Jan. 9, by the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, about consecrated women in the Church. The day-long (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) program took place at St. Joseph Parish, Kennewick, and was attended by 74 girls age 13-18, representing several area parishes.
The program presented some general information on consecrated Religious life for women, providing a general overview: who they are, why and how they chose their community, the many charisms and ministries available, and other related topics.
The girls also were able to meet and talk individually with the Sisters.
Father Dale Tuckerman, parochial vicar of St. Patrick Parish, Pasco, set the stage with a discussion of the choice of many vocations and the need to discern God’s will.
The program was a great success, with very positive feedback from participants. A second, similar session is a possibility.
