Diocesan pilgrimage to shrines of France departs Oct. 2; December pilgrimage to visit Guadalupe

Bishop Thomas Daly will lead a diocesan pilgrimage to the shrines of France from Oct. 2-13.

The pilgrimage will include visits to Paris, Orleans, Chartres, Mont St. Michel, and Lyon. The highlight of the trip will be a two-day visit to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Our Lady of Lourdes is the patroness of the Diocese of Spokane and the namesake of the diocese’s cathedral church.

Pilgrims will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

In December, Father Gustavo Ruiz Juarez, pastor of the parishes in Medical Lake, Reardan, and Sprague, will lead a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

That eight-day pilgrimage begins Dec. 7 and concludes Dec. 14.

Escorting the pilgrimage will be Deacon Gonzalo Martínez – recently at St. Rose of Lima Parish, Cheney, and on April 1 to begin ministry at St. Joseph Parish, Otis Orchards – and Sylvia Howes of the Pilgrim Pathways tour company.
